چکیده

METHODS. The subjects (85% polysensitized, 25% with asthma) were randomized 1:1 to receive once-daily MK7243 (2800 BAU P pratense) or placebo. The first dose was given at the investigator’s office; subsequent doses were self-administered at home. The primary end point was total combined score (TCS) (composed of rhinoconjunctivitis daily symptom score plus daily medication score) over the entire grass pollen season. Key secondary end points included entire-season daily symptom score, daily medication score, peak-season TCS, and rhinoconjunctivitis quality-of-life questionnaire scores. Safety outcomes included adverse events (AEs).

Early-life risk factors for childhood wheeze phenotypes in a high-risk birth cohort.

OBJECTIVE To define longitudinal childhood wheeze phenotypes and identify their early-life risk factors. STUDY DESIGN Current wheeze was recorded 23 times up to age 7 years in a birth cohort at high risk for allergy (n = 620). Latent class analysis of wheeze responses identified 5 classes. Multinomial logistic regression estimated associations of probability-weighted wheezing classes with ear...

Using latent class growth analysis to identify childhood wheeze phenotypes in an urban birth cohort.

BACKGROUND To advance asthma cohort research, we need a method that can use longitudinal data, including when collected at irregular intervals, to model multiple phenotypes of wheeze and identify both time-invariant (eg, sex) and time-varying (eg, environmental exposure) risk factors. OBJECTIVE To demonstrate the use of latent class growth analysis (LCGA) in defining phenotypes of wheeze and ...

Social inequalities in wheezing in children: findings from the UK Millennium Cohort Study

Wheezing in childhood is socially patterned, but it is unclear what factors explain the social differences.Regression analysis of the UK Millennium Cohort Study, based on 11 141 singleton children who participated at ages 9 months and 3, 5 and 7 years. Relative risk ratios (RRR) for early and persistent/relapsing wheeze were estimated using multinomial regression, according to measures of socio...

Febrile respiratory illnesses in infancy and atopy are risk factors for persistent asthma and wheeze.

Severe viral respiratory illnesses and atopy are risk factors for childhood wheezing and asthma. The aim of this study was to explore associations between severe respiratory infections and atopy in early childhood with wheeze and asthma persisting into later childhood. 147 children at high atopic risk were followed from birth to age 10 yrs. Data on all respiratory infections occurring in infanc...

Hyper-responsive T-cell cytokine profile in association with development of early childhood wheeze but not eczema at 2 years.

BACKGROUND Eczema is a known risk factor for the development of wheeze in childhood. Cord blood T-cell cytokine responses have been shown to be associated with the development of both early childhood eczema and wheeze. Our objective is to study and compare the influence of intrinsic T-cell cytokine responses on the development of wheezing and eczema in the first 2 years of life in a birth cohor...
